After building its reputation with competitively priced electric vehicles and advanced technology, BYD is preparing to move further into the luxury market.

The company has previewed the new BYD Da Han, a full-size flagship electric sedan designed to challenge premium executive cars with a claimed driving range exceeding 1,000 kilometres. ⚡🔥

🚘 A New Flagship for the Dynasty Family

Also known as the Great Han, the Da Han is the first D-segment flagship sedan in BYD’s new top-tier Dynasty range and will be positioned above the existing BYD Han.

The vehicle measures 5,256 mm in length and has a 3,130 mm wheelbase, giving it full-size luxury-car proportions and substantial space for rear-seat passengers.

🔋 Up to 1,008 Kilometres of Claimed Range

The electric version uses an approximately 102.3-kWh lithium iron phosphate Blade battery.

The rear-wheel-drive model offers a claimed range of up to 1,008 kilometres under China’s CLTC testing cycle, while all-wheel-drive versions are rated between 820 and 880 kilometres depending on specification.

CLTC figures are produced under different testing conditions, and real-world highway range may be lower, particularly in extreme temperatures.

⚡ Up to 764 Horsepower

The rear-wheel-drive version is powered by a 370-kW electric motor, equivalent to approximately 496 horsepower.

The range-topping all-wheel-drive model uses two electric motors producing a combined 570 kW, or around 764 horsepower, with a claimed top speed of 270 km/h.

Expected premium technologies include rear-wheel steering, advanced air suspension and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor supporting driver-assistance systems.

🌍 Full Debut Scheduled for August

The BYD Da Han is scheduled to make its full public debut at the Chengdu Motor Show in August 2026.

BYD has not yet announced final pricing, a sales date or availability in Saudi Arabia and other international markets.

However, its limousine-like dimensions, four-digit claimed range and 764-horsepower output show that BYD is no longer focused only on affordable electric cars.

The question now is:

Can the new BYD Da Han challenge established German luxury sedans? ⚡🔥
