The Land Cruiser name needs no introduction in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf, but Toyota is now delivering its legendary off-road formula in a smaller and more accessible package.
Following its official Japanese launch, the Land Cruiser FJ has started expanding into additional Asian markets, moving from an anticipated prototype to a production vehicle customers can actually buy. 🚙🔥
🚘 A Smaller Land Cruiser with a Real Ladder Frame
The FJ is not merely a crossover carrying the Land Cruiser badge. It uses a ladder-frame chassis, part-time four-wheel drive, short overhangs and generous ground clearance.
Toyota says its wheelbase is 270 mm shorter than the Land Cruiser 250, improving manoeuvrability in cities, narrow trails and demanding off-road environments.
⚙️ 2.7-Litre Petrol Power and Four-Wheel Drive
Currently launched versions use a naturally aspirated 2.7-litre petrol engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and part-time four-wheel drive.
The model offered in Asian markets produces approximately 166 horsepower and 245 Nm of torque, with Active Traction Control supporting grip across difficult terrain.
🛡️ Built for Customisation and Easier Repairs
The FJ features segmented front and rear bumper corners, allowing damaged sections to be replaced individually instead of requiring an entire bumper replacement.
Toyota also offers adventure-focused accessories including roof racks, skid plates, rock rails and configurable cargo equipment.
🇸🇦 When Will It Reach Saudi Arabia?
At the time of publication, the Land Cruiser FJ does not appear in Toyota Saudi Arabia’s official vehicle lineup, and no confirmed Saudi launch date or local price has been announced.
However, its expansion beyond Japan is likely to increase anticipation across the Gulf, where the Land Cruiser name has one of its strongest customer bases.
